Messrs. Pate and Mullins were also present and <br />explained what the alternate bids covered. At the request of <br />the Board, Mr. Bill McIver, of Metal Building Constructors, Inc., <br />was present and answered questions about the cost of metal <br />buildings. After an extended discussion, it appeared that <br />the School Board had considered but rejected construction of <br />a metal building and recommended the constructions of the <br />building designed by the architects. Commissioner Cooper <br />moved that the School Board b'e authorized to accept the low <br />bid of John William Brown Company, Inc., for the general <br />construction, Riddick Plumbing Company for the plumbing work, <br />Center Heating and Air Conditioning for heating and air <br />conditioning, and Mace Electric Company for, electrical work <br />at a total cost of $126,328.00 With $80,000.00 to come from <br />the budgetary appropriation for such work and the.sum of <br />$46,328.00 to be appropriated from Revenue Sharing Funds to <br />the School Fund Capital outlay for the balance of said contract. <br />Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion. On a roll call <br />vote, Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F.•Wicker, and.G. Wicker <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Chairman declared the Board would hold a public <br />hearing upon the question of whether or not Lee County should <br />affiliate with Johnston County in the operation of'a Community <br />Action Program. After all interested persons had been heard, <br />the public hearing was declared closed. Commissioner Rogers <br />moved that Lee County affiliate with the Johnston County <br />Opportunities to serve as.the Community Action Program. <br />Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote, it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Rogers moved.that $872.50 be appropriated <br />n <br />from the unappropriated surplus in the Gene"rat Fund tothe <br />Community Action Fund to pay the balance owed by;Lee Count,y~ <br />-4- <br />
