Recreation Department appeared <br />before the Board and requested assistance in securing law . <br />enforcement to maintain order at recreation program events. <br />The majority of the Board were of the opinion that the <br />maintenance of* law and order was a.-function of both the City <br />Police Department and the County Sheriff's Department and <br />requested, that _the recreationlofficials contact those law <br />enforcement agencies and.request them to perform their duties. <br />The Board next took up for consideration if <br />guidelines should be established for the use of the Council's <br />meeting room. The Board authorized Mrs.- Beatrice Fields and <br />Commissioner F. Wi.cker:.to be 'in charge of authorizing the <br />use of this meeting room,' They were 'directed to give 'a. <br />priority to meetings to the branches' of County Government and <br />to authorize heated areas where possible before resorting to <br />the use of the Commissioner's meeting.room. <br />Commissioner Cooper moved that the charges for the <br />ambulance service be amended to provide a charge of 60~ per <br />mile for distance traveled outside ',of the limits of the County <br />on a one-.way basis'. Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote, it was unanimously, adopted. <br />y ! 4 . <br />Mr. Paul Godfrey of Greenwood Township appeared <br />before the Board and requested that the Board sell' or exchange, <br />land with'him.at its land fill site. It was requested that <br />a map be prepared showing the 'proposed areas to be exchanged <br />for consideration by the. Board at its next meeting.- <br />The Chairman called to.the.attention of the members <br />that there would be a meeting in Raleigh of the North Carolina <br />Association of County Commissioners on January 8, 1914. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that Mr. Bob <br />Brickhouse of Sanford Brick &Tile had written several people <br />about placing trash on the.ground near a County- container <br />-5- <br />
