J rr~y r Mrs.'.Marietta.Watson, Chairman, and Mr. E. N.:'Baker, Director, of the Lee. County. Recreation Department appeared before the Board and requested assistance in securing law . enforcement to maintain order at recreation program events. The majority of the Board were of the opinion that the maintenance of* law and order was a.-function of both the City Police Department and the County Sheriff's Department and requested, that _the recreationlofficials contact those law enforcement agencies and.request them to perform their duties. The Board next took up for consideration if guidelines should be established for the use of the Council's meeting room. The Board authorized Mrs.- Beatrice Fields and Commissioner F. Wi.cker:.to be 'in charge of authorizing the use of this meeting room,' They were 'directed to give 'a. priority to meetings to the branches' of County Government and to authorize heated areas where possible before resorting to the use of the Commissioner's meeting.room. Commissioner Cooper moved that the charges for the ambulance service be amended to provide a charge of 60~ per mile for distance traveled outside ',of the limits of the County on a one-.way basis'. Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously, adopted. y ! 4 . Mr. Paul Godfrey of Greenwood Township appeared before the Board and requested that the Board sell' or exchange, land with'him.at its land fill site. It was requested that a map be prepared showing the 'proposed areas to be exchanged for consideration by the. Board at its next meeting.- The Chairman called to.the.attention of the members that there would be a meeting in Raleigh of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners on January 8, 1914. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that Mr. Bob Brickhouse of Sanford Brick &Tile had written several people about placing trash on the.ground near a County- container -5-
