MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING. <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />Monday, January 7, 1974 <br />The regular.meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North'Carolina, convened in the Commissioner's <br />Room on.the second floor of the County Office Building at <br />the.corner'of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of <br />Sanford at 9:30 o'clock A.M. on Monday, January'7. 1974• <br />Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. <br />Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordori A. <br />Flicker. None of the '.Commissioners w' st absent: e-,'The Chairman <br />declared a quorum present and the meeting opened. for the ' <br />'transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A., Wicker presided and the,foslowi-ng <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Reverend James 'Humphrey, <br />Pastor of the Shallow Well Congregational Christian Church. <br />Mr. E. M. Underwood, Jr.,'C.P.A., appeared before <br />the Board to discuss the proposed' changes to the inventory <br />tax. Mr. Underwood explained the proposed bill has been <br />amended since the. Board considered' this matter and under the <br />present proposal the State would absorb the loss in revenue. <br />After reconsidering the"'matter, the'Board was still of the <br />opinion that it was opposed to any change in the revenue tax <br />at the present time. <br />
