17 <br />n pp n <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR <br />MEETING. OF THE BOARD, OF ; <br />COMIvIISSIONERS FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF-LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday,. March 4,1974 <br />, <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room on~the second <br />floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets <br />in the City of Sanford at 9:30' o'clock a. m. , on Monday, ` March 4, 1.974, Those <br />present were Commissioners, William H, Cooper, Hal L„ Hancock,- J. `Eugene <br />Rogers,, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners <br />was absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting opened <br />for the transaction•of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A,• Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: ' <br />The minutes of the meeting held on February 18,'1974, were <br />considered, amended, and as amended, were ordered recorded and filed, upon <br />motion of Commissioner Frank Wicker and seconded by Commissioner Hancock; <br />which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />o <br />Commissioner Rogers reported on his#inves',tigation~concerning <br />the needed repairs to the Armory roof but no action was taken at this time. <br />Commissioner Cooper reported on road matter., and'requested <br />that a-petition be returned to the interested parties to have•it corrected and <br />completed in accordance with the requirements of the Department of, Transportation. <br />Coirnsnissione . r Cooper moved that the sum of $200..00 be approp- <br />riated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Planning <br />Board Fund for the purpose of paying the expenses of said Board,, Commissioner <br />Hancock seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, <br />Rogers, F, Wicker and G. 'Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker-moved the Board that the City <br />of Raleigh be designated for the, Coordinator for the Manpower Program on behalf <br />of Lee County.. Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted, <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker called to`the attention of the <br />Board;the proposed amendment which ivould-allow the Boards of Education to <br />authorize school bus use for any school activity. There was a general discussion <br />but no formal action was taken concerning. this bill. <br />Mrs. Doris McCracken appeared before the Board' on behalf <br />of the Historical Society,to determine if anything concerning the old Lasiter <br />.house in Jonesboro Heights would come before the Board at this session. • Mrs,. <br />McCracken was advised the Board had no notice or knowledge concerning any <br />action pertaining to this site.- <br />The letter' from Mr. Gene G. Barnes; District Forester, North <br />Carolina.Forest Service, was read to the Board,. The letter stated that the <br />position of Ranger in Lee County is now vacant and the Board of Commissioners <br />
