The Commissioners discussed the request of the Board of Elections <br />for additional space and in particular, discussed 'construction of storage space <br />to the Courthouse Annex on Steele Street. <br />Mr. Hugh'Brewer, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, appeared <br />before the Board and reported on. the renovations being, made in,the main Court- <br />room at the Courthouse and on the renovations to the fourth floor of the County <br />office building. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker, and'unanimously adopted, the Superintendent of Buildings <br />and Grounds, was directed and authorized to secure a sound system to be installed <br />in the main Courtroom. <br />Mr, Brewer further reported on tlfe improved mileage of the official' <br />vehicles since the dispensing of gasoline had been controlled by his:department. <br />The Chairman was requested to write a letter to all departments <br />using county vehicles to remind and caution them to limit their use 'of ,the <br />public vehicles to official business. <br />The Commissioners then discussed the feasibility of using some of <br />the earth moving equipment at the Landfill site for the purpose of assisting the <br />Recreation Department in clearing'its site. The Landfill Committee was auth <br />orized to work out a tPansfer of the.equipment on some equitable basis and in <br />such fashion that it did not hinder or impede the-work at the Landfill•site. <br />The Commissioners next took under consideration the applications <br />which had been received for the position- of.Forest Ranger in Lee County. The <br />Board directed that•the names of the two applicants, namely,' Mr. Eddie Turnage <br />and Mr. Jack Marks, be submitted to the office of Forest Resources of the <br />Department of Natural and Economic Resources for consideration::''.
