Mrs.' Beatrice Fields and-Messrs.. Tom Haislip,and <br />Mike Womble of the County Personnel Board appeared before.. <br />the Board-and presented their.recommendations.for the <br />classifications and salary grades, for: county 'employees:. <br />After. discussion., Commissioner. Cooper moved that the Board <br />adopt the. class:ifications recommended by.-the :Personnel Board,. <br />and that in the formulation of the budget; for the.'coming <br />fiscal year that it provide,for a raise :of:7-l/2.% across the <br />.Board'except.for those. elective.positions where such an <br />increase :would be prohibited by. law.. Commissioner. Hancock <br />seconded the motion and upon a roll' call vote,: Messrs. Cooper, <br />Hancock,: Rogers,.and F. Wicker voted, for it and Mr. Gordon A. <br />Wicker voted against it. The Chairman announced the resolution <br />had been adopted by a majority. vote.. The: :classification <br />schedule.is 'attached to .these' minutes and by this reference <br />made a part hereof. <br />Mr. Hugh `Brewer.,'Superintendent pf. Building and <br />Grounds, appeared before the. Board and discussed the.condition <br />of the. `armory building.. The. Board. instructed Mr.,~Brewer that <br />it was in its intent ons ,to•p7ace•ahe armory; n. good condition <br />andit authorized, Commissoner',Rogers.to.employ :architects <br />and engineers .to.prepare specifications for the receiving <br />of bids to. install a new. roof on,the -armory building'. <br />Mr. Brewer was instructed`and"authorized to. proceed to make. <br />sure that the wiring in the. building was both adequate and <br />safe. <br />The. Board next considered the :action of health <br />planning and its~ relationship. to. the Region J' Council. of <br />Governments.. No formal `action was. taken at this. time and <br />Commissioners 'Hancock and F. Wicker were 'requested to <br />investigate:ahe matter. and make recommendations to the Board. <br />The. Board again considered the request received <br />about employing Mrs. Page as part-time help for the Housing <br />Development Corporation and it-was concluded that there-was <br />no necessity for part-.time help at the present time. <br />There being no.further:.business to come before <br />the meeting, .it.was. adjourned. <br />IGORDOK A.
