Upon motion of Commissioner. Will'i'am H. Cooper, :seconded by. Commissioner. J. Eugene Rogers and unanimously adopted, it was resolved to~ authorize such an advance. The. County. Finance Officer. was asked to:inves:tigate the 'status of. the insurance on the.building.formerly occupied as the administrative :office.t y:.the.Board.of Education. She was authorized to make sure that .theCounty.'s.interes.t in this facility was.fully protected. .There was 'a discussion about .the. 'laws. as they pertained to: dogs but no.formal'action was taken. The:Board took-Under. advisement the' formulation of a wage :policy with respect to overtime .pay. .The Chairman brought .to,the attention of the Board that the Forest Service had reported that Mr. Eddie .Turnage did not want. the ranger position which was available. in Lee ' County. at the present .time... The Board authorized the Finance Officer-'to. run an advertisement. concerning this position in the Sanford Herald. Commissioner. J. Eugene Rogers': reported that the wiring of the.Armory building had been completed and that investigation of the needed roof repairs, was.,continuing. There was a discussion about what .type, :floors were advisable and. feasible in. the building. .The Board authorized the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds to 'arrange. for theater- type seats. within. the Bar in the'Superior Courtroom. The Board.authorized the :purchase - of a magneti:c.board for,use in. the Courtroom. It was. brought to. the :attention of the. Board that there had been numerous' complaints: to the: Commissioners of the '.fact .that the Magistrates. were :leaving their offices at night and riding with the 'Sheriff's. deputies... The County. Attorney. was requested to. take the. matter. up with the appropriate. :authorities:. The :Chairman reported he had received correspondence complaining about the. 'creation of junk yards along the 'major highways through the County:. Mr. Dave.Godwin.of Lee'.County Industries.who performed a contract ser:vice;:for the 'County in working retarded persons appeared b'efore.the Board and requested funds to: improve the toilet,facilities.in their building. Mr. ',Godwin was advised that ;County, funds , could riot be: used to. improve private~ property; however., he was at liberty to use''.the:'funds paid to him-for his contract service,'for wh'ate.ver purpose his.Board of Directors might authorize him to.'make.'. The,-Board of Commissioner's met with the Director of the'Departmerit.:of Social Services and reviewed the budget request- for the 'fiscal year 19=7.4=.75. . After review.,: upon motion of Commissioner.
