BOOK O PAGE 350 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, June 17, 1974 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioner's Room on the second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford at:7:30 o'clock p.m. on Monday, June 17, 1974. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting opened for the transaction of business: Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The minutes of the meeting held on May 20, 1974, and June 3, 1974, were considered and corrected, and as corrected,.were approved and ordered recorded. The Board next considered the request for $900.00 for the Civil Preparedness Fund as the County's share in the purchase of a new automobile for use by the Director. Commissioner Hai L. Hancock moved that the sum of $900.00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Civil Preparedness Fund for the purpose of purchasing a 1972..four-door Ford Torino automobile for use by the Director of Civil Preparedness. Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Director of Civil Preparedness, appeared before the Board and gave a report on a program held in Atlanta for Region III on Civil Preparedness. Commissioner William H. Cooper reported that the specifications for the new 'ambulance had been prepared and had been sent to prospective bidders. There was a discussion about'the installation of guard rails on Horner Boulevard in Connection with disaster prevention. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker requested Commissioner William H. Cooper to contact the proper authorities in the Department of Transportation concerning this matter. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the Board give its approval to the holding of an emergency service exercise under the direction of the Civil Preparedness Program in the month of.September. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a'vote, it was unanimously adopted.
