Fi <br />LEE COUNTY (j -1 <br />• <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION <br />IN MEMORY OF DONALD NELSON BUIE <br />WHEREAS, Donald Buie was born and raised in western Harnett County, graduated from Benhaven High <br />School, East Carolina University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and <br />WHEREAS, Donald Buie taught school both in Harnett and Lee County, coached basketball, baseball and <br />football, and in 1973 began working at Central Carolina Community College until his retirement in 2002 as <br />Dean of Continuing Education, and <br />WHEREAS, Donald Buie is survived by his wife, Jeanne Johnson Buie, two daughters. one son, and one <br />grandson; and <br />WHEREAS. Donald Buie was involved in many Lee County organizations, was past president and member <br />of the Sanford Rotary Club, past president and member of the Lee County Wildlife Club, past president of <br />the Lee County Farm Bureau, secretary and treasurer of the D.C. Blue Hunting and Conservation Club, <br />past president and lifetime member of the F.L. Knight Hunting Club, coordinator for the 4H Hunter Safety <br />Shooting Teams, initiator of the Carolina Paddlers Club, past chairman of the Lee County Democratic Party <br />and was an avid ouldoorsman who loved to hunt and canoe, and was instrumental in forming the 2007 <br />Centennial Committee, and <br />WHEREAS, Donald Buie was an elder for four terms at Jonesboro Presbyterian Church, taught the <br />Fellowship Sunday School Class, and received the Presbyterian Man of the Year Award in April 2007. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby honors the <br />memory of Donald Nelson Buie for a life of outstanding service, contribution and commendable leadership; <br />and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution is spread upon the minutes of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners June 4, 2007 meeting as a permanent record of the achievements of and respect for one of <br />Lee County's finest citizens, and that the original be presented to the family of Donald Nelson Buie with <br />sincere sympathy and appreciation. <br />Adopted this 4th day of June 2007. <br />~Cornmissioner Jerry M.
