Page I of 2 <br />• Carol Kivett <br />From: Sandra Cox-Holmes <br />Sent: Friday, February 16, 2007 8:09 AM <br />To: Carol Kivett <br />Subject: RE: Grant??? <br />Hi Carol, <br />Here it is. <br />North Carolina Office of Minority Health Disparities HIV/STD Grant <br />Participant Explanation <br />Focus: The focus of this is Health Disparities grant to educate the adolescent and young adult <br />population about of HIWAIDS, STD's and unintended pregnancies within the minority populations of <br />tee County. <br />Project FACT Phase I (Faith groups, Addressing health issues through, Community Outreach, and <br />0 Together into the community) targeting African-American and Hispanics faith based groups in Lee <br />County focusing of I-11WAIDS, STD's and unintended pregnancies within the minority populations of <br />Lee County. <br />Through this initiative 8 Peer Educators (youth) as well as 8 Lay Health Advisors (adults) from <br />each faith based organization (a total of 16) will receive specialized training to conduct outreach <br />in the areas of HIV/AIDS, STD's and unintended pregnancies. Each faith based organization will <br />be responsible for identifying 8 Peer Educators and 8 Lay Health Advisors. The purpose is to <br />increase the proportion of adolescents/adults who are abstinent or who delay initiation of sexual <br />relationships, and increase the number of sexually active people who effectively use contraceptives <br />to prevent against the aforementioned disparities. <br />Also Carol you should receive if you haven't already and award letter from the NC Health and <br />• Wellness Trust Foundation in the amount of $18,075 to : <br />Title <br />7/7n Vlnn7 <br />
