0
0
O
LEE COUNTY..
Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow
To: Gaynell Lee, Clerk to the Board

From: Eric Griffin, Emergency Management Director
Cc: Kenny Cole, Assistant County Manager
Date: April 25, 2007
Subject: Request Approval to Submit Application liar Annual Emergency Management
Performance Grant (EMPG) To Subsidize Emergency Management Program
Attached is the application for the FY2006-2007 Emergency Management Performance Grant
(EMP(3) which 1 request approval to submit to state emergency management for funding to
support the Emergency Management program. As you may know, this is an annual grant
application utilizing federal funds, passed through the state to counties to ensure effectiveness
and quality in emergency management programs in North Carolina.
Funds are distributed based on a percentage of the County budget to Emergency Management
and varies year to year. Last year, Lee County received $24,901.59. This grant application's
match requirement is met through the annual salary paid to the Emergency Management
Director, so no additional funds are required to receive grant. Additionally, this grant does not
pose any additional personnel requirements or equipment requirements on the County, however
staff time will be needed to accomplish the required tasks described in the application. These
tasks are not abnormal, and when completed will enhance the emergency management program.
I request that the Commissioners authorize the Emergency Management Director, Finance
Officer, and County Manager to sign all documents associated with the grant and authorize the
Emergency Management Director to submit the application.
Lee County Office of Emergency Management
PO Box 1154, 225 E. Weatherspoon St, Sanford, NC, 27331-1154
919 775-8279 FAX. 919 775-1224
c, Zz
APR 2 v"'
