O()i( <br />• LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MARCH 29, 2007 <br />Y y <br />The special meeting of the Lee County Board of Commissioners and members of <br />the Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Board of Trustees met at 3:00 p.m., <br />Thursday, April 29, 2007, at the Central Carolina Community College Jonesboro Center, <br />Cox Maddox Road, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Robert H_ <br />Brown, James C. Kelly, Jerry M. Lemmond, and Nathan E Paschal. Commissioners <br />Robert T. Reives, Linda A. Shook, and Amy L. Stevens were absent Staff members <br />present included K. R. Hoyle, County Attorney, Interim County Manager Lisa Minter, and <br />Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. <br />• Mr. Bobby Powell, CCCC Board Chair welcomed everyone. <br />Dr. Matt Garrett, CCCC President discussed financial needs of the community <br />college, how county funds are spent, the status of CCCC facilities and maintenance, <br />security and safety issues, and a comparison of CCCC to other colleges in the region. <br />Dr. Garrett also discussed the Early College High School program located on the CCCC <br />campus, the need for more medical providers, and the future of the Jonesboro Center. <br />The community college is asking for a total of $13.6 million for short and long-term <br />projects. A budget request of $2,061,863 for the upcoming fiscal year has been <br />requested. A question and answer session followed the presentation. <br />No action was taken. <br />The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m. <br />Robert H.
