16 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETI <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />FEBRUARY 21. 2007 <br />The special joint meeting with members of the Lee County Economic <br />Development Corporation (EDC), Sanford City Council, and Town of Broadway <br />was held at 9:30 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Economic Development <br />Office, 226 Carthage Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. <br />Commissioners attending included Robert H. Brown, James C. Kelly, Jerry M. <br />Lemmond, Nathan E. Paschal, and Linda A. Shook. Commissioners Robert T. <br />Reives and Amy L. Stevens were absent. Staff members in attendance included <br />Assistant County Manager Kenny Cole, County Attorney K. R. Hoyle, and Clerk <br />to the Board Gaynell Lee. <br />John Daniel, Chairman of the EDC Board called the meeting to order and <br />welcomed participants. Mr. Daniel introduced Mr. Ted Abernathy from Research <br />Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) who presented information on the process <br />of economic development beginning when a company initiates the process at <br />looking for a potential site. Economic Development Director Bob Heuts <br />discussed EDC's Work Plan for 2007-2009 which included their Mission <br />Statement, Goals and Actions. Suggestions were presented to make Sanford <br />and Lee County a more attractive and appealing area for visitors and individuals <br />wishing to relocate to the area. <br />With no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Daniel adjourned <br />the meeting. <br />0 <br />ATTEST: <br />Gaynell M.
