.A <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Southern Base of the Research Triangle Region <br />Lee County Economic Development Corporation <br />Work Plan 2007 - 2009 <br />Mission Statement The Lee County Economic Development Corporation will <br />work on behalf of Lee County, the City of Sanford, and the <br />Town of Broadway to attract, retain, and facilitate the <br />expansion of high quality business and industry to increase <br />the tax base and job opportunity. <br />Goal <br />Actions <br />Industrial & Residential Growth: <br />a. Work in conjunction with Community Development and <br />Enhance the potential of Lee County for <br />Public Works to prioritize geographic areas for infrastructure <br />attracting new, high quality industries, for <br />improvements. <br />facilitating growth of existing industries <br />b. Assist in identifying and developing funding methods for <br />and businesses, and for high residential <br />water and sewer expansion. <br />c. Identify areas for industrial development and <br />recommend appropriate zoning. <br />d. Support and promote comprehensive City/Town/County <br />planning and ordinances relative to high quality development. <br />e. Complete application for Lee County Industrial Park for <br />Certified Industrial Site. <br />f. Support and implement efforts for improved industrial <br />sites and buildings. <br />g. Work with the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce and <br />the CCCC Small Business Center to initiate forums for local <br />businesses to identify needs and corrective actions, and <br />ensure a close working relationship between the local <br />community and local industry. <br />h. Maintain close contact with Lee County schools and <br />Central Carolina Community College to ensure that the <br />educational needs of industry and business are identified. <br />L Support business and industry partnerships with the <br />education system. <br />j. Encourage and support small business development in <br />Lee County. <br />k. Compile a "Retail Development Information Package". <br />1. Create a special opportunity fund revolving loan program. <br />m. Develop a Military business action plan. <br />n.
