BOOK 8 PACF 70 <br />The Clerk reported that Mr. Sonny Baker had advised <br />him that an agreement had been reached with Mr. Tommy <br />Berryman about a right of way.for a utility line to serve the <br />0. T. Sloan Park. <br />The Chairman reported that acts of vandalism had <br />been committed at the Depot Building and reported on his <br />actions to correct them and protect the property. <br />The Chairman announced that the time for receiving <br />bids for the. Van-type Ambulance had expired and the Board <br />proceeded to open the bids received. The bids were as <br />follows: <br />1. Crain MM Sales, Inc. $14,637.00 <br />2. Superior Coach Sales Company $13,310.00 <br />3. Yankee Coach, Inc. $13,469.00 <br />The bid from Yankee Coach, Inc., was not accompanied by a <br />bid bond and therefore was not considered. After discussion <br />and examining the specifications and equipment to be.furnished, <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that the County accept <br />the low bid of Superior Coach Sales Company in the amount of <br />$13,310.00, subject to the approval of the Director of the <br />Governor's Highway. Safety Program. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock <br />seconded the motion and upon•a roll call vote, Messrs. <br />Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker all voted <br />for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Board then proceeded to open bids for the <br />maintenance of the office equipment. The bids received were <br />as follows: <br />Monroe Remainder <br />Equipment Of Equipment <br />Sanford Business Machines $252.00 $2,987.60 <br />Mac's Business Machines, Inc. 191.96 2,363.56 <br />Monroe 271.00. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that the bid be awarded <br />to Mac's Business Machines, Inc., on all machines and their <br />low bid of $2,555.52• Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded <br />. the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, <br />Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one <br />voted against it. <br />The Board next proceeded to open the bids received <br />for a van-type motor vehicle.for use by the Maintenance <br />Department. Only one bid was received. That was the bid of <br />Dowdy Ford, Inc., for the amount of $4,100..30. After <br />reviewing the bid and the specifications, Commissioner William <br />H. Cooper moved that the bid of Dowdy Ford, Inc., be accepted <br />v "-\and that $4,100.30 funds, from the unappropriated surplus in <br />the General Fund be appropriated to the Maintenance Department <br />Fund for the purpose-of purchasing said vehicle. Commissioner <br />J. Eugene Rogers seconded the motion and upon a roll call <br />vote, Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker, and G. Wicker <br />all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Chairman called the Board's attention to the fact <br />that the Honorable John A. Lang, Jr., had passed away. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />-3- <br />
