4 <br />bMI K 8 3658 <br />• + 4.10- <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, July 1, 1974 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioner's <br />Room on the second floor of the County Office Building at. <br />the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of <br />Sanford at 9:30 o'clock a.m. on Monday, July 1, 1974. Those <br />present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, <br />J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker declared a quorum present and the <br />meeting opened for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Reverend James P. Sample <br />of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that two <br />other parties needed to be named to the Board of the Johnston- <br />Lee County Community Action Agency. Commissioner J. Eugene <br />Rogers moved that the Board appoint W. L. Frye and Tom Haislip <br />to the Board of the Johnston-Lee County Community Action <br />Agency. Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. Chairman Wicker <br />declared Mr. Frye and Mr. Haislip duly appointed to the Board. <br />The minutes of the meetings'held on June 3, 17, and 24 <br />were approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner <br />Rogers,,seconded by Commissioner Hancock which motion was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper presented a petition <br />requesting the addition.of the roads in Carr Creek Estates <br />known as Hillside Drive, Carr Creek Road, and Prosperity <br />Drive be added to the State Maintained Secondary Road System. <br />After discussion, Commissioner William H. Cooper moved the <br />adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been <br />filed with the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee requesting that the above <br />described roads, the location of which has <br />been indicated in red on the attached map, be <br />added to the Secondary Road system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of•County Commissioners <br />is of the opinion that the above described <br />roads should be added to the Secondary Road <br />System, if the roads meet minimum standards <br />and criteria established by the Division of <br />Highways of the Department of Transportation <br />and Highway Safety.for the addition of roads <br />to the System. <br />
