<7 <br />r~ <br />Mr. Forrest L. Stevens, Chairman of the Lee'County <br />Hospital Board of Trustees, and Mr. Huitt Reep, Administrator, <br />appeared before the Board. Chairman Stevens reported the <br />Hospital had engaged.the services of Hospital Development <br />Corporation to make a thorough study of the hospital service <br />area to.determine the needs of the area and to 'make recommendations, <br />for development of the hospital facilities. Chairman Stevens <br />reported the cost of the study would be $16,000.00. <br />Chairman.Forrest L. Stevens of the Lee County Hospital <br />Board of Trustees presented a list of names recommended by the <br />Board of Trustees to fill the vacancies created by the expiration <br />of the terms'of,Mrs. Josephine Sheer and Messrs. Forrest L. <br />Stevens and Orton J. Cameron. Chairman Stevens asked that <br />consideration be given to the appointment of an attorney and <br />of some one who has had experience as a builder to the Board. <br />Mr. James.Pate and Mr. Robert Bracken of the firm of <br />Pate and Mullins, Architects and Engineers, appeared before the <br />Board and reported on their recommendations for the possible <br />routes for sewer lines to'se'rve the Allis Chalmers plant north <br />of Sanford. They reported they had received a letter from the <br />Sanford authorities to the effect that neither of the proposed <br />routes was acceptable and that Sanford would not provide sewerage <br />service to the plant. <br />The County Attorney reported on the negotiations with <br />the Seaboard Coast Line-Railroad wherein the Company had offered <br />to lease the depot building.to the County for a ten-year period. <br />The Board directed Pate-Williams.to prepare plans and specifi- <br />cations for the improvement of the depot for submission to the <br />Railroad Company for their approval. <br />The written request of Arthur M. Reives, Sr., for <br />the refund of $36.95 which was paid through error by the Clerk <br />of Court from.funds belonging to Arthur M. Reives, Sr., on the <br />tax.bill of his son, Arthur'M. Reives, Jr.,-was presented to <br />the Board. The Tax Collector had investigated the matter and <br />found the facts.to be as contended by Mr. Reives and he recommended <br />honoring the request. Commissioner Franklin, D. Wicker moved <br />that the request for refund be granted and that the Tax Collector <br />be,authorized and directed to refund $36.95 to Arthur M. Reives, <br />Sr. Commissioner Hal L.' Hancock.seconded the motion and upon a <br />roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper,. Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and <br />G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The written request of Sandra L. Starr for refund of <br />$18.20 was'presented`to the Board', ?,Mr. James L. Clark, Tax <br />Supervisor,Freported'.to the Board-.that Mrs. Starr paid $45.50 <br />in taxes on Lot.No. 1018, Southwind, Carolina Trace while the <br />correct ",amount of,-taxes was $21.30.. Commissioner Franklin D. <br />Wicker moved that the-re quest`for*.a,refund of $18.20 by Mrs. <br />Sandra L. Starr be granted'ahd th'at'the Tax Collector be <br />authorized and,,directed to make such refund. Commissioner <br />Hal L. Hancock;seconded;-the motion and upon-a roll call vote, <br />Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all <br />voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Chairman reported that the Department of Transportation <br />had approved projects for the improvement of U. S. Highway No. 1. <br />south of Sanford. <br />- 2 - <br />
