Commissioner Cooper brought to the attention of the <br />Board the desires of. the ambulance service for a four-wheel type <br />vehicle to pull the generator. The discussion. concerning this <br />request indicated this type vehicle should be acquired by the <br />Rescue Service. No formal action was taken at this time. <br />'Commissioner J.•Eugene•Rogers reported to the Board <br />that the County acquire the Poe.property which is a lot 80x200 feet <br />adjoining the County Maihtenance Building for $19,000.00. After <br />a discussion among'the'board members; Commissioner Rogers moved that <br />the sum of '$19,OOO:OO be appropriated from the unappropriated <br />services-'in the general.fund for the purpose of acquiring the Poe <br />property'on Elm'Street, t and thdt the County. proceed to purchase <br />the property. Commissioner Frank k cker.seconded the motion, and <br />upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers,.F. Wicker <br />and G. Wicker all voted for it. <br />The Chairman brought up for discussion the question <br />of extending the contract.for an assistant for the planning board, <br />and the board.requested the Chairman to seek the advice of the <br />County Planning Board as to whether or not they'wish to retain <br />the services of the planner. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by <br />Commissioner Cooper, it was resolved to close the County Offices <br />and-bbserve as Christmas Holidays, Wednesday the-25th, Thursday <br />the 26th and.Friday, the 27th of December.
