MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR'LEE COUNTY <br />MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18th, 1974 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />the County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building at the corner bf Steele and <br />Wicker Streets, in the City of Sanford at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on <br />Monday, November 18th, 1974. Those.present were Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. <br />Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners mas absent. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and.the following <br />business was transacted. <br />The invocation was given by Chairman Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper presented to the board <br />a petition requesting the extension of secondary road 1539 from its <br />northern terminus to.North Carolina Highway 42,-making the road serve <br />as a connector between 1538 and North Carolina 42.. After hearing <br />from the representatives of the community.Commissioner Cooper moved <br />the adoption of the following resolution: <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />COUNTY OF,':LEE' a <br />Road description secondary road from its northern <br />terminus of N: =C.' Highway,42. <br />WHEREAS, the' attached -petition has been filed with <br />the Board .of County"Commissioner"s of the County of <br />Lee requesting.` that the,above•de'scribed road, the <br />location of which has been indicated in red on the <br />attached map, be added to the Secondary Road system; <br />and <br />WHEREAS,_the Board of County Commissioners is of the . <br />opinion that the above described road should be added <br />to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets <br />!minimum standards and criteria established by.-the <br />Division of Highways of the Department of.Tra.nsportation <br />and Highway Safety for the addition of roads to the. <br />System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of the County of.Lee that the Division <br />of Highways is hereby requested to review the above <br />.described road, and to' take over the road for mainte- <br />nance if it meets established standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted:' <br />Commissioner Cooper then presented a petition <br />requesting the addition of the extension of SR 1131 to the State <br />maintained secondary road system.
