Condlin, County Extension Director
REQUEST: Katie Heldt member of the 4-H Barn Busters Club and Larry Long,
Farm-City Week Chairman will appear before the Board to present
Farm-City Week Activities.
SUMMARY: As our society becomes more urban, fewer Americans ever see the
connection between the foods they eat, the clothing they wear and
the farms where the food and fiber products are grown. Every day
we benefit from the American farmer. Their harvest provides food
and fiber for this nation and for other countries around the world. In
recognition of the importance of agriculture, we request the Lee
County Board of Commissioners to proclaim November 20-26, 2009
as Farm-City Week and invite our elected officials to participate in
the many activities, which highlight Lee County Agriculture. The
local observance is co-sponsored by North Carolina Cooperative
Extension and Kiwanis Club of Sanford.
BUDGET IMPACT: N/A
ATTACHMENT(S): (1) Farm-City Week Proclamation
(2) Promotional Flyer
PUBLIC HEARING: No
PRIOR BOARD ACTION N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Proclamation for Farm-City Week as presented
I
