D. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: October 19, 2009 _ Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Budget Amendment #10/19/09/03 <br />DEPARTMENT: Finance <br />CONTACT PERSON: Lisa G. Minter, Finance Director <br />REQUEST: Approval of Budget Amendment #10/19/09/03 <br />SUMMARY: Budget Amendment #10/19/09/03 appropriates funds for the following <br />departments: <br />Administration.- Professional services-legal is being increased $5,000 from emergency & contingency to <br />cover legal fees occurred by our insurance company on a case related to the Sheriff's Department. <br />Register of Deeds - The Register of Deeds has requested to use $1,995 from the automation fund for <br />maintenance on a scanner. The automation fund is part of the County's fund balance. <br />Sheriff - Capital Outlay > $5,000 is being increased $40,052, maintenance-vehicles is being increased <br />$3,276 and technology equipment < $5000 is being increased $1,700 for the purchase of two vehicles <br />approved by the BOC at their last meeting. Funds are coming from fund balance since the insurance <br />refunds were received in the prior fiscal year. Travel is being increased $6,950 per the Gang Task Force <br />Officer Grant that was approved by the BOC at its last meeting. Capital Outlay > $5,000 is being increased <br />$73,000 for the purchase of a special operations vehicle. $30,000 is from the Gang Task Force Officer <br />Grant and $43,000 is being transferred from the Drug Seizure Fund. <br />Soil Conservation - $25,000 from the NC Division of Soil & Water Conservation and $11,729 from the <br />County's emergency & contingency line are being budgeted to fund the position approved by the BOC at its <br />last meeting. <br />Note: Supporting documents are available in the Clerk's Office for review. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: See above <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Budget Amendment #10/19/09/03 <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve Budget Amendment #10/19/09/03 as presented <br />r~ <br />U <br />
