"G~M1 n R483 <br />V' <br />The Chairman advised the Board that Miss Mary, Estelle <br />Doyle, former Home Economist for Lee County, will be honored by Peace <br />College on April 26, 1975. :Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was, appoint- , <br />ed a delegate to this ceremony on' behalf of the Board. <br />The Chairman reported that the :County Planning Board <br />had sent him a report that they preferred the Commissioners hire .the Building <br />Inspector. <br />It was reported to the'Boar;d`that the 201 Study Program <br />was. being assembled and approval ;was expected sometime, after ninety days. <br />The Board officially declared the week beginning May 4th <br />as Senior -Citizens Week and designated May 4th-as' "Senior Citizens' Day". <br />Commissioner Dotterer reported.to the Board.that Pate <br />and Mullins, had prepared plans,for renovation of the Courthouse Annex or <br />Agricultural Building and that the total project would run $63, 100.,00.-- This . <br />matter was discussed at some length. <br />The Chairman' reported receiving a letter-from the-Home, <br />Builders •Association,of Lee County, which,was read,to the Board.' This <br />matter ,was referred to the-Planning Board for its recommendations <br />The Chairman reported that he had received a letter from <br />Mayor.Clarence E. Lightner of Raleigh; with respect to the Manpower Con- <br />sortium under CETA. This letter was read at length and discussed by the <br />Board. At the suggestion of Commissioner Franklin D: Wicker.,' response <br />to this letter was held in abeyance pending receipt of other information con- <br />cerning-this program. <br />The request of the Sanford Tobacco Board of -Trade was <br />denied since there was no funds available for this purpose. <br />The Chairman reported that the City of Sanford.had sent <br />a bill for $1; 932, 00 for the County's portion•of an Airport Study made in <br />1971, Upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded by C6mm- <br />issioner William H. Cooper,, it was unanimously resolved to appropriate the <br />sum of $1, 932, 0.0 from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund for <br />the purpose of paying the County's portion of.the'Airport Study. Commissioners <br />Cooper; Hancock,' Dotterer,. Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker all voted <br />for, the motion upon a roll call vote. <br />The statement of Pate and Mullins, Architects and Engineers, <br />for'he'work done on the sewer line to the Allis-Chalmers' Plant was presented <br />j to the Board, Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the bill in the <br />amount of $8, 540. 00 be paid from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund; <br />same to be reimbursed from bond proceeds when said project is later completed. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, <br />Commissioners Cooper, Dotterer, Hancock,"Franklin'D. Wicker and Gordon A. <br />Wicker all voted for if and no one' voted against it. <br />,a <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that the Manpower <br />Consortium requested.authority4,tb increase,the grant for activities in Lee County <br />to the total of $149,419.00; 'Corrimis'si6ner7Wi6ker moved that such,authority be <br />given. The motion was duly seconded andupon a'vote was unanimously adopted. <br />
