DON 8 PACE 491 <br />'2.. That-Tuesday, May 20, 1975, be and <br />the same is hereby officially declared to be "Teacher Appreciation <br />Day" in the County of Lee. <br />3. That this Resolution be. made a part of the <br />official Minutes of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee and that copies thereof be forwarded to the Superintendent <br />of the Sanford-Lee County School System and to the news media. <br />The Board decided to defer consideration of the appointments <br />to the Library Board and to the Parks and Recreation Commission until the <br />next meeting. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker rejoined the meeting and assumed <br />the Chair. <br />The list of monthly bills as listed by the Finance Officer and <br />supported.by purchase orders were reviewed by the Board. The Board authorized <br />payment of the bills with directions to deduct $45.00 from the Statement of E. F. <br />Craven & Co. <br />The Board took up the requests of Mrs, Luke Riddle and Mr. <br />Arthur Jackson for permission to continue their employment. , Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker , at the request of the Chairman,. explained the personnel <br />policy. The department heads had recommended the retention of each of the <br />employees.' Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved.to grant the request of each <br />of the employees to be allowed to work for another year. Commissioner Franklin <br />D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote the resolution was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded <br />by Commissioner John E..Dotterer, and unanimously adopted, upon a vote, it <br />was resolved to appoint Commissioner-Franklin D. Wicker; Mr. W. L. Foye, and <br />Mr. Thomas Haislip to serve as members of the Board of Directors of the <br />Johnson-Lee Community Action, Inc. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner John E.. Dotterer, seconded by <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper, and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it . <br />was resolved to maintain Lee County's affiliation with the manpower consortium <br />of which the City of Raleigh is the prime sponsor. <br />The statement of Mr. J. F. Hockaday for his expenses concerning <br />a trip to Washington to assist in 'getting Lee County unddr the Coastal Plains <br />Regional Development Program was approved for payment from the appropriation <br />for Commissioners upon a roll call vote wherein Messrs, Cooper, Dotterer, <br />Hancock, F. Wicker and.G. Wicker all voted for the resolution and no one voted - <br />against it. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded <br />by Commissioner Hal L. Hancock and unanimously adopted upon a roll call vote, <br />it was resolved to appropriate $300. 00 from the Emergency and Contingency <br />Fund to the Civil Preparedness Fund for the purpose of purchasing furniture. <br />It was resolved to appropriate- $137. 00 from the Emergency <br />andhGont'ingency F,unfl' for the purpose of purchasing brochures on Lee County <br />from Hill Directory' Company. 'The motion was made by Commissioner John <br />E. Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker and upon a roll <br />call vote,rMessrs.;'Cooper, Dotterer,- Hancock, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all <br />voted in 'favor of the,motion. <br />
