The Governor is opposed to any more counties being added to the Coastal Plains Regional Development Area until the Federal Government increases the budget appropriation, . The Board authorized the purchase of insurance coverage in the amount of $60, 000. 00 on the County's leasehold interest at the Senior Citizens Facility upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded by Commiss- ioner John E. Dotterer, and unanimously adopted. The Board authorized the purchase of insurance coverage in the. amount of $25, 000. 00 on the improvements at the maintenance building upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, and unanimously adopted. Dr. Ben Brooks and Mr. J. Glenn Edwards appeared before the Board to review the budget requests of the Sanford-Lee County Board of Education. Also present were Superintendent Ken Brinson, Assistant Superintendent Ernest Atkinson, Chairman Cade Covington, Mrs. Mary Alice. Holmes, Mrs. Nan Howard and Mr. J. Fletcher;Rosser were also present. The requests for current outlay, current expense, and instructional services were reviewed in detail. . t The Board recessed its meeting at 11:00 o;clock a. m. to hold its meeting as the Board of Equalization and Review, The Board reconvened at 11:45 o'clock a, m., with Vice Chairman Hal L. Hancock presiding. Upon motion of Commissioner: John E. Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner William H. Cooper, unanimously adopted upon,a vote it was resolved as follows: WHEREAS, the Administrators and the Faculty of the Sanford-Lee, County School System have rendered faithful and conscientious service to the students of the School.System and through them to all Citizens of Lee County throughout this school year and in years past; and WHEREAS, their interest in the students of the Sanford-Lee County. School System, and indeed in all the Citizens of Lee County has reflected the highest devotion to the principles of the teaching profession; and WHEREAS, the highest standards of instruction, conduct and ideals have been exemplified by the said Adminis- trators and Faculty of our School System; WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to officially express their apprecia- tion for such splendid services rendered. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the Lee County Board of Commissioners do hereby express their deep appreciation.to the Administrators and Faculty of the Sanford-Lee County School System.
