M 1 <br />r<~ , ' rl ;„`.BOOK <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has <br />been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee,, requesting that the above described <br />road, the location of which has been indicated in red on <br />the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; <br />and <br />WHEREAS,, the Board of County Commissioners' <br />is of the opinion that the above described road should be added <br />to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum <br />standards and criteria established by the Division of Highways <br />of the Department of Transportation and Highway Safety for the <br />addition of roads to•the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board <br />of County Commissioners of the County of Lee that the Division <br />of Highways is hereby requested to review.the above described ` <br />road, and to takeover the road for maintenance if it meets <br />established standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote it was unanimously adopted. , <br />Mrs, Doris McCracken appeared before the Board on behalf of <br />the Lee County Historical and Genelogical Society and requested the Board to <br />restore the bath house at the swimming pool on. Carthage Street. The Board <br />explained that the timbers in the building were rotten and beyond repair. <br />Commissioner John E.. Dotterer joined the meeting and participated <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Mr. Henry Lee Cameron appeared before the Board and requested <br />another trash container be placed in the Cameron Village section. <br />Commissioner Hai L',. Hancock moved that the Board record its <br />appreciation of the community service performed by the, Sanford Jaycees in their <br />sponsorship of the Christmas Parade in past years and to ask them to continue <br />the program. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the program and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Con. missioner'Franklin D.• Wicker reported that it was his <br />recommendation that Lee County stay with the City of Raleigh Manpower Consortium. <br />A general discussion followed. <br />The.Board-unanimously reappointed Commissioner Franklin D. <br />Wicker to be its representative on the City of Raleigh Manpower Consortium, <br />Upon motion-of Commissioner William H.- Cooper,- seconded by <br />Commissioner John E: Dotterer,'. and .unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was <br />resolved;to reappoint W.' Carl Buchanan to the Jury Commission,for a three year <br />r .term`: and until •his'suc`cessor is appointed and qualified. <br />The, Chairman. announced that Mr. McDonald Buie had resigned from <br />the Parks and Recreation Commission effective August <br />Upon' motion of Commissione.r`John E. Dotterer, seconded by <br />Commis'sioner''Hal li. Hancock, and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was <br />resolved to lease the house at 407 Evergreen Lane to the Sanford Redevelopment <br />Commission for $80. 00 per month and to authorize the Chairman and Clerk to <br />execute a lease to that effect. <br />I <br />. - t <br />
