BrnK FACE 49 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, May 19th', 1975 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Carthage Streets, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock p, m., on Monday, May 19, 1975. Commissioners William H, Cooper, John E. Dott'erer, `Hal L. Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordon'A. Wicker were present. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided.and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened by prayer given by the Reverend Bob . Brown of the Swann'Station Baptist Church.' The minutes,of the regixlar meeting, held on May 5th, 1975, were approved and ordered recorded.. Reverend Bob-Brown of the Swann Station Baptist Church, appeared before the Board.and complained that the rule of the Parks and Recreation Commission, which limited team membership to residents of Lee County and persons who were 'employed' in Lee County discriminated' against the members of his congregation. There was.a general discussion and the Board requested Commissioner Cooper to ask the Parks and Recreation'.Cotnmission to reconsider the matter, Mr. Ken Brinson, Superintendent, and Mr. Ernest Atkinson, Assistant Superintendent of the Sanford-Lee County Board of Education, appeared before the Board.and requested a transfer of funds to 'enable the mairiteriance program to be carried on this. summer. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker A moved that the sum of $10, 000. 00 be transferred from the School Capital Outlay fund to, the'.SChool Current, Expense Fund.for.the purpose of operating the summer maintenance program. Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion „and.upon',a -roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper,-Dotterer, Hancock, F., Wicker and G. Mr. D. F. Harris appeared before the.Board and reviewed the statement'of value Is'on buildings and contents which the County presently insures The values were discussed and adjusted. 'The Clerk was instructed to determine if a lease can be secured on the adult education center property which was deeded to the State of North Carolina for'National'Guard purposes. With the exception of the adult education center item, the list as adjusted was adopted upon motion•of
