BK - 00026 PG:0585 <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA ) <br />CONTRACT FOR LEGAL SERVICES <br />COUNTY OF LEE ) PRIMARY ATTORNEY ADULT <br />SERVICES, CHILDREN'S SERVICES, <br />FRAUD, WORK FIRST and MEDICAID <br />TRANSPORTATION <br />THIS CONTRACT is for the purchase of legal services by and between the <br />COUNTY OF LEE, one of the counties of the State of North Carolina and a body both <br />politic and corporate, hereinafter referred to as "County ", and Tron Faulk, Attorney at <br />Law, hereinafter referred to as "Attorney ", to provide for the legal services needed by the <br />Lee County Department of Social Services, hereinafter referred to as "Agency;" <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, the County desires to contract with the Attorney to provide legal <br />services needed by the Agency upon the following terms: <br />1. This contract shall begin July 1, 2014 and will continue through June 30, <br />2015, unless sooner terminated as provided herein. <br />2. The Agency is mandated by law to perform various functions and to <br />provide various services within the community including, but not limited to, investigation <br />of and intervention in investigation of and intervention in circumstances of exploitation, <br />abuse, and neglect of the elderly and disabled adult. The Attorney shall be available, <br />upon reasonable notice, for consultation, legal advice, and representation as requested by <br />the Agency on legal services arising from providing these various functions and services <br />as aforesaid. <br />3. The Agency is mandated by law to perform various functions and to <br />provide various services within the community including, but not limited to, investigation <br />of and intervention in fraudulent receipt of food stamps. The Attorney shall be available, <br />upon reasonable notice, for consultation, legal advice, and representation as requested by <br />the Agency on legal services arising from providing these various functions and services <br />as aforesaid. <br />4. The Agency is mandated by law to perform various functions and to provide <br />various services within the community including, but not limited to, investigation of and <br />intervention in Work First. The Attorney shall be available, upon reasonable notice, for <br />consultation, legal advice, and representation as requested by the Agency on legal <br />services arising from providing these various functions and services as aforesaid. <br />5. The Agency is mandated by law to perform various functions and to provide <br />various services within the community including, but not limited to, investigation of and <br />intervention in Medicaid Transportation. The Attorney shall be available, upon <br />reasonable notice, for consultation, legal advice, and representation as requested by the <br />
