BK - 00026 PG:0561
Executive Director Bo Hedrick from the Boys & Girls Club presented the proposed FY 2014 -15
Budget of $46,970.77 from his non - profit organization. His organization is open every day that school
is in session during the school year and also during the summer months. Transportation is provided
during the school year via school buses from the schools to one of their two locations. Mr. Hedrick
asked the Board if they would consider his organization using the Bob Hales Center on McIver Street
during the summer for forty high school students and two counselors. This will help free up needed
space from the Bragg Street location. The Boys & Girls Club will pay $3,600 in rent to use the facility
which will be paid from DPI (Department of Public Instruction) funds. No action was taken.
Applications for funding were submitted by Johnston - Lee - Harnett Community Action and
Communities in Schools, neither which attended the budget work session.
County Manager John Crumpton stated that Brick Capital CDC is interested in purchasing the
W. B. Wicker Gym to help with over - crowding of the Church Street Boys & Girls Club facility. If
something should be worked out, the County would rent the gym from Brick Capital for needed
basketball activities through Parks & Recreation. No action was taken.
With no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner Dalrymple moved to adjourn
the budget work session. Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Parks, Reives, Smith, and Womack
Nay: None
Absent: Knecht
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the meeting adjourned at
M.
^,ATTEST:
r
Lee, Clerk to th4 Board
Charles T.
