Hancock seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Captain Braam of the North Carolina National Guard appeared <br />before the Board and presented the plans for a 100 man Armory. Captain Braam <br />advised the Board that if the Board desired to increase the size of the building, <br />that the County would have to bear the full expense for the architectural changes <br />as well'.as the full expense for the construction of the additional area. Captain <br />Braam also advised the Board that security regulations would make it difficult <br />to make the building available for use for outside activities everyday but if <br />such was the desire of the Board of Commissioners, he was sure he could work <br />out a feasible schedule utilizing the non-commissioned officers who reside within <br />Sanford. The Board discussed the matter and Chairman Wicker stated that he was <br />disappointed to learn that the facility could not be easily adapted for-use for recre- <br />ational activities particularly by the School units near the Armory site. Comm- <br />issioner Dotterer'moved that the Board advise the National Guard that the County's <br />share of local funds will be available on demand. Commissioner William H. <br />Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Jim Coates, Director of Social Services, appeared before <br />the Board. Mr, Coates discussed with the Board the matter of Uniform Reciprocal <br />Enforcement of Support. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the County <br />Department of Social Services be designated, as the IV-D Agency for the County <br />acting under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act and that it also act as the desig- <br />nated representative of the County for the purpose of determining paternity and/or <br />support of a dependent child under Chapter 110A of the.General Statutes of North <br />Carolina. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a <br />vote. it was -unanimously adopted'. <br />Mr. Hugh Barnes,. District Forester and Mr. Michael Tripp, <br />of the County Forestry Office, appeared before the Board concerning their budget <br />request. Mr. Barnes advised the Board that he was not aware-that his budgetary <br />r request for-.funds to purchase a pick-up truck had been disallowed and that the <br />".order Had gone in-tolsecure the vehicle. After discussion about the budget and <br />the use of the equipment in Lee County, Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved <br />"tha"the.sum of $1, 620:'0'0 be appropriated from the Contingency and Emergency <br />FundF.to.tli'e Forestry Fund for the purchase of the pick-up truck. Commissioner <br />William H. Cooper seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, <br />Dotterer, Ilancock,rF, Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no,one voted <br />against it. <br />Mr:. Kenneth Brinson,.. Superintendent of the Sanford-Lee <br />County School Administrative Unit, appeared before the' Board and requested <br />approval of revisions to his budget.
