8 FAGE 536 <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker reported that the Sanford- <br />Lee County Board of Education had requested $5,200. 00 to purchase a <br />wrecker for use at the school garage. <br />The Chairman had the Clerk read to the Board a letter <br />received from the Sanford Boosters Club, Inc., wherein they supported the <br />idea of expanding the proposed Armory to provide seating for 3,000 spectators <br />at basketball games. <br />The Chairman reported that Billy Ray Cameron, County Civil <br />Preparedness Director, had completed a course on Civil Preparedness in <br />August. <br />{ <br />The Chairman had the Clerk read to the Board a letter from <br />Wiley B. Teal, Director of Detention, Division of Youth Services, Department <br />of Human Resources, concerning the possible construction and funding of a <br />w, regional juvenile detention facility in the south central part of the state. The <br />Board directed that Mr. Teal be invited to the'second meeting in October to <br />discuss the matter. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, County Community Development Co- <br />ordinator, appeared before the Board along with Messrs. Bracken, Mullins <br />and Pate.of the firm of Pate-Mullins and Associates. Mr. Buchanan reviewed <br />the status of the funded projects and also discussed planning for additional <br />applications. <br />Mr. Darrell. Mullins of Pate-Mullins and Associates, appeared <br />before the Board and requested authority to secure joists for installation under <br />the Armory floor. After discussion this was authorized as well as the installation <br />of a termite screen around the building. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved that the following order <br />directing the'Tax Collector to collect the taxes charged in the tax records and <br />receipts be adopted: <br />To the Tax Collector of the County of Lee: <br />You are hereby authorized, empowered <br />and commanded to collect the taxes set forth in the tax <br />records filed in the office of the Tax Supervisor and in <br />the tax receipts herewith delivered to you, in the amounts <br />and from the taxpayers likewise therein set forth. Such <br />taxes are hereby declared to be a first lien upon all real <br />property of the respective taxpayers in the County of Lee, <br />and this order shall be a full and sufficient authority. to <br />direct, require, and enable you-to levy on and sell any <br />real or personal property of such taxpayers, for and on <br />account thereof, in accordance with law. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the sum of <br />$5, 200. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund in the <br />General Fund to the School Capital Outlay Fund for the'purchase of a wrecker. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, <br />Commissioners Hal L. Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker <br />all voted for the motion and no one voted against it. <br />
