, - E~•~; ~ tdct 533 - WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed-with the Board of County Commiss- ioners of the County of Lee, requesting that the above described' road, the.l.ocation of which has .been indicated in red on the attached map, be, added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County. Commissioners is of the opinion that the above . described road should be added to the Secondary Road 'System, 'if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the. Division of Highways of the Department of Transportation and Highway Safety for the addition; of roads to the System. `NOW; THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of'County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that-the' Division of Highways is hereby ,requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria. .f s Commissioner Franklin D.- Wicker seconded the motion and upon,a vote it was unanimously adopted:.' Mr. Cecil Budd, Chairman of the Secondary Road's Division ' of the Department of Transportation and representatives 'of ,the Highway Division of the Department of Transportation, appeared before the Boardto'disduss the Secondary Road Construction Program for.1975 and 1976.. During their 'Presen- tation, Chairman Gordon A. Wicker returned to the meeting and resumed the Chair... There was an extensive discussion between the. Board and Highway representatives and Chairman Wicker expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of authority in county Commissioners in controlling highway improvements and in particular with the funds allocated for Lee County. After expressing much the same dissatisfaction, Commissioner Hancock stated that he moved that the following resolution be adopted because it represented the only available road program for the County. The resolution is, as follows: WHEREAS, the 1975-77 Paving Priorities were presented, reviewed and approved as prepared. WHEREAS, the Secondary Road Plan Funds. allocated for' secondary road improvements in Lee County during the 1975-76 are as follows: - $54, 900 WHEREAS,, it was recommended that 10% be retained for the upgrading substandard subdivision streets to the minimum standards for addition, upgrading roads recommended for'addition,. maintenance of cemetery drives, overruns, countywide surveys and right of way acquisition, widening existing high traffic roads, school bus improve- ments, or further continuation down the priority: list: $.5, 500 NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of. Commissioners' of Lee County, that the following projects be approved as the Secondary Road Improvement Program, namely:
