FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, October 6,. 1975 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County' of Lee, met in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 201 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock a, m., on Monday, October 6,- 1975. Commis sioners-William .H• Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Commissioner John E. Dotterer was absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: Chairman Gordon A. Wicker advised the Board that he had checked with Harlan E., Boyles with the Local Government Commission, and that there re- mained an adequate amount of unissued bonds which could be used for the construct- ion of a water tank near the Williams Industrial Park off'U. -S. Highway No. 421. After discussion, Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the firm of Pate- Mullins & Associates, be authorized to complete the plans and specifications for the wager tank and necessary lines and to prepare them for bidding: Commissioner ' William H. 'Cooper seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Cooper, .Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. The-Chairman announced there would be a picnic for the County employees on-October 14, 1975, between the hours of twelve o'clock noon and two o'clock p. m. , at the Courthouse as'a part of the County's Bi- Centennial Program. The Chairman announced that a letter had been received from the family of Mrs. Bessie Cooper, acknowledging the expression of sympathy sent in the name of the Board. ' The Chairman reported that he had been advised by Mr. Harold McNeill,' official of the City of Sanford, that Mr. W. C. Wilson had resigned as a member of the Sanford Board of Adjustment and that.the Board of Commissioners should name a replacement. Members of the Board considered various parties and then selected an appointee-and authorized Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker to approach their nominee and see if he would be willing to accept the appointment. There was a general discussion about the bonding requirements in the Building Ordinance but 'no formal action was taken. The monthly bills as listed by the County Finance Officer were considered and approved for payment, upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, duly seconded by Commissioner Hal. L. Hancock.and which-motion was unanimously adopted. .
