' 6;;~' U P,~'ec ~J <br />Vice-Chairman Hancock read to the Board a letter from the <br />C. E. Smith Company, requesting the extension of a sewer line to their industrial <br />site on N. C. 78. . While it did not appear that the request would come under the <br />sewer policy it was decided to have the matter investigated by the Tax Supervisor and <br />Pate-Mullins & Associates, Engineers. <br />Vice-Chairman Hancock announced to the Board that Mr. L. F. <br />Meador has resigned as Chairman and as a member of the Planning Board. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the Board adopt a resolution of <br />appreciation for Mr. Meador's services. A copy of the resolution is attached <br />to these minutes and made a part hereof. Cornmissioner'John E. Dotterer <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted, <br />The Vice-Chairman notified the Board it had been invited to partic- <br />ipate in the Sanford Jaycee Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 22nd, and <br />in the Broadway Christmas Parade on December 15, 1975. <br />Mr. Lewis E. Moody, head of the North Carolina REACT member- <br />ship committee, appeared before the Board and spoke about the REACT program <br />which is a group of volunteers who monitor the emergency channel on citizens <br />band radio to assist in relaying messages to police and rescue units:'- The local <br />unit asked for space in the County office building and for'permissrion'to place <br />their base station in such space and to place an antenna. on the roof. The request <br />was taken under advisement, <br />The Vice-Chairman advised,.Mr., Paul. Godfrey that the Landfill <br />Committee had not had an opportunity to meet'to'conside'r his request and, lie <br />would be advised of this action. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that November-22, 1975, <br />be designated as Homecoming Day for the State Commander of the Veterans <br />of Foreign Wars in recognition of the celebration planned for Mr. Billy Ray <br />Cameron. Commissioner William H.
