<br />There was a discussion about the proposed sewer line to
<br />the industrial facility on N. C. 78 (Jonesboro-Tramway Road). No formal
<br />action was taken with respect to this line at this time.
<br />The Chairman'presented for discussion the information received
<br />from the School authorities relative to the cost for repair of the bleachers in
<br />the high school gym. There was a discussion concerning the fact that the
<br />School Board had capital outlay, funds which were available for this purpose,
<br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that consideration of this_request
<br />,be tabled. Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon _a vote the
<br />motion was adopted,
<br />Commissioner William H,. Cooper moved that the sum of $25, 000
<br />be appropriated from the Revenue Sharing Funds to the Recreation-Commission
<br />for the purpose of paving the parking lots at the O, T.,. Sloan Park. ' The motion
<br />was duly seconded and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper,. Dotterer, Hancock,
<br />F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it.
<br />Mr, Elwin Buchanan, the Community Development Director;
<br />appeared before the Board and presented Mr. Dale Jones, of the Economic
<br />Development Administration office in Raleigh. Mr. Jones, was in Lee County
<br />to review the Community Development projects and'to inspect the pumping
<br />station property relative to the request for,the establishment of a park',on that
<br />site,
<br />The Chairman announced that it wasA 10:30, and time to open the
<br />bids received for the water improvement, project.'•'Mr:=Jim Patetdf.-P,ate-
<br />Mullins and Associates, opened the bids and they were publicly read and the
<br />bids received were as follows: tt

<br />The bids were turned over to Pate-Mullins.9z Associates for their analysis.and
<br />review and they are.to report at the next meeting ,of.the Board their recommen-
<br />dation,
<br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Community Development Director,, appeared'
<br />before the Board and presented the written,report on the activities of his agency.
<br />Mr. Darrell Mullins of Pate-Mullins 8z Associates, appeared
<br />before the Board and presented plans.for improvements to the building known
<br />as the Courthouse Annex on Wicker Street. Commissioner'John E. •Dotterer
<br />moved that the plans be approved as submitted and that the architects be authorized
<br />to advertise for bids for the. completion of these projects and to prepare plans
<br />on the other recommendations. made for consideration by the Board- Commissioner
<br />Hal L. Hancock seconded the motion andeupon a vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer,
<br />Hancock and F. Wicker voted for it and Chairman Gordon A. Wicker voted against
<br />it. The motion carried by a majority vote.
<br />There being no further business to come before the session, it
<br />was adjourned sine die.
