® BOOK O FACE561 <br />The Chairman reported the Sanford-Lee County Board of <br />Education had requested funds from the School Capital Reserve <br />Fund to pay for soil testing at theschool sites.- Commissioner William H, Cooper <br />moved that the su;m of $3, 716, 25 be appropriated from the School Capital Reserve <br />Fund to pay for soil testing at the school sites, Commissioner John E. Dotterer <br />seconded the motion, and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer, F. <br />Wicker and G. Wicker voted for adoption and no one voted against adoption of the <br />resolution. <br />The Chairman read to the Board a letter concerning the possibility <br />of holding a national checker tournament in Lee County. <br />The Chairman reported the Board had been invited to meet with the <br />Board and Staff of the Lee County Hospital at. 8:00 p, m., on December 16, 1975, <br />at the 'Lee County Hospital, <br />. The Chairman reported that Mr. W. T. Proctor, County Supervisor <br />of FHA, that it was not advisable for the County to dispose of any of its landfill <br />site because it may violate the terms of the grant from FHA which provided a part <br />of the purchase price. The Board requested that this information be given to Mr. <br />Paul Godfrey. <br />The Chairman reported that the Department of Transportation had <br />released the 20% of road fund allocations previously held back pending review <br />of revenue collections and an additional $13, 000, 00 would be available for Lee <br />County projects, <br />The Chairman reported that action on the bids for the Lemon Springs <br />water line was being held up pending the execution of an'agxeerrie.nt between.the <br />City of Sanford and the Greenwood Water System, in-L', and that he would request <br />an adjournment of this meeting to complete such,work <br />The landscaping project at the Senior Citizens Center was discussed <br />and it was decided to,.utilize' the present appropriation as .far..as it will go and <br />reconsider the matter at that time. ,1., ~ ~ t { . • . <br />Mr, Robert Bracken of Pate-Mullins & Associates appeared.before <br />the Board and reported on the plans for water line extensions near Broadway <br />as apart, of the Community Development Program. <br />Mr, Elwin Buchanan, Community Development Program Director, <br />reported on the status of the'Northview sewer line project. Mr. Buchanan also ' <br />reported on street plans'in,the Bluefield section and on other areas where street <br />and water line improvements are planned; <br />Commissioner John E. 'Dotterer'moved that the proposed water <br />line extensions near Broadway as outlined and shown on the drawings presented <br />to the Board be accepted and approved. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was. unanimously' adopted. <br />The Chairman reported that it was permissible to provide a leased <br />automobile for-the Director under the Community Development Program and the <br />Director had requested that such be.done since his job required considerable use <br />of a car. After discussion, Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the <br />Community Development Program Director be..authorized to lease an automobile <br />for his use in carrying.out the duties of his position as an expense of the Community <br />Development Program, which lease shall provide,for the car; repairs, insurance,' <br />in short, everything except gasoline. Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner <br />William H.
