B K: 00026 PG <br />County Manager's Report — April 21, 2014 <br />Legislative Update from the NCACC — Video <br />Onaoina Proiects <br />Clyde Rhyne Road Paving Project — The notice to proceed and final contracts have all <br />been executed. EDA has given final construction approval and the construction process <br />has started. The contractor has installed all soil and erosion control measures. Lee <br />County General Services has worked to clean trash and debris from the right of way. The <br />Contractor has started with the construction. Anticipated completion is late August/early <br />September. <br />Community & Economic Development Joint Use Facility — I will provide an update <br />from our tour of facilities (Old Food Lion on North Horner and Old Belk Building on Steele <br />Street) on April 15 and the joint meeting discussions with the City on April 21. <br />Update From City /County Inter -local Committee Meeting — The City /County Inter -local <br />Committee met on April 21 at 11:30 am at City Hall. The agenda included items on Parks <br />and Recreation facility development, the joint Community and Economic Development <br />joint use facility, an update on the new private /public partnership for economic <br />development, discussion on the future of the Community Development Leadership, and <br />water and sewer issues in the unincorporated areas of the County. A full update from the <br />meeting will be discussed in my report. <br />Innovation Center Update — The County has been approached by the Community <br />College to use the entire facility for a very large training program. This is good news and <br />bad news. The entire facility is not available. I have made a commitment to a company <br />to lease 1,000 square feet of space for 12 months while they add on to their facility. In <br />addition, the one incubator tenant we have is struggling at this time. I have had <br />discussions with Dr. Marchant about turning the entire facility over to the Community <br />College. We need to discuss the future of the facility. <br />Other Items <br />Budget Process Update — The Board of Education has scheduled the vote to approve <br />their FY 2014 -15 budget at their regularly scheduled meeting on May 11 th. As was <br />discussed earlier this will move the County Manager's budget presentation to our 2nd <br />
