Boo K P Pa9F /S Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved the adoption of'the following resolution with respect to the granting of a permit to Sidney L. Hodgin, fo"r the use of pyratechnics: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, has ascertained that Sidney L. Hodgin, is an expert in the use of pyratechnics; and " WHEREAS, satisfactory evidence has been produced that the pyratechnics will be used at public exhibitions conducted by the Lee County Bicentennial Committee in the •year 1976; NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chairman is authorized to issue a permit for the use of pyrotechnics'in connection with the conduct of such public exhibitions. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that Mr. Charles Warner be named as a member of the Sanford Board of Adjustment to fill the present vacancy among, County Appointees. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the sum of $500. 00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the,General Fund to the Maintenance Department to purchase a used wrecker from the State surplus warehouse, and the sum of $1, 136.00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to-the School Fund to complete the purchase of a wrecker for the school system. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon A roll call vote,. Messrs. Dotterer, Hancock, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. The Commissioners requested that Mr. Fletcher Harris be invited to attend the next meeting to review the County's insurance program. The Board authorized the sale of surplus of Sheriff and Rescue vehicles by sealed bid for consideration by the Board at the. first meeting in May. The Chairman reported that he had received a letter from the State Treasurer setting out that the bond.proceeds could be used for the install- ation of the water tank in the Clawson L.. Williams Industrial Park. The Board next considered and reviewed the *affirmative action program for Equal Employment Opportunity. Commissioner Dotterer moved that the program dated March 25, 1976, be approved. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. The Board next considered a request for approval of participation by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency in the federally assisted Section 8 existing housing assistance payment program in. Lee County. The participation by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency in the Section 8 program was approved. and the execution of 'a written request giving such approval was author- ized, upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted.
