Boo K P Pa9F /S <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved the adoption of'the following <br />resolution with respect to the granting of a permit to Sidney L. Hodgin, fo"r <br />the use of pyratechnics: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County, has ascertained that Sidney L. Hodgin, is an <br />expert in the use of pyratechnics; and " <br />WHEREAS, satisfactory evidence has been <br />produced that the pyratechnics will be used at public exhibitions <br />conducted by the Lee County Bicentennial Committee in the <br />•year 1976; <br />NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED <br />that the Chairman is authorized to issue a permit for the use of <br />pyrotechnics'in connection with the conduct of such public <br />exhibitions. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that Mr. Charles <br />Warner be named as a member of the Sanford Board of Adjustment to fill the <br />present vacancy among, County Appointees. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the sum of $500. 00 <br />be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the,General Fund to the <br />Maintenance Department to purchase a used wrecker from the State surplus <br />warehouse, and the sum of $1, 136.00 be appropriated from the unappropriated <br />surplus in the General Fund to-the School Fund to complete the purchase of a <br />wrecker for the school system. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded <br />the motion and upon A roll call vote,. Messrs. Dotterer, Hancock, F. Wicker <br />and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Commissioners requested that Mr. Fletcher Harris be <br />invited to attend the next meeting to review the County's insurance program. <br />The Board authorized the sale of surplus of Sheriff and Rescue <br />vehicles by sealed bid for consideration by the Board at the. first meeting in <br />May. <br />The Chairman reported that he had received a letter from the <br />State Treasurer setting out that the bond.proceeds could be used for the install- <br />ation of the water tank in the Clawson L.. Williams Industrial Park. <br />The Board next considered and reviewed the *affirmative action <br />program for Equal Employment Opportunity. Commissioner Dotterer moved <br />that the program dated March 25, 1976, be approved. Commissioner Franklin <br />D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered a request for approval of participation <br />by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency in the federally assisted Section 8 <br />existing housing assistance payment program in. Lee County. The participation <br />by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency in the Section 8 program was <br />approved. and the execution of 'a written request giving such approval was author- <br />ized, upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Franklin <br />D. Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />
