Boom <br />C <br />Paae <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously. adopted. <br />The Board next took under consideration the report from the <br />District Engineer,. with respect to the improvement of Secondary Road 1187 <br />(Frazier Drive) from Secondary Road 1001 to the Sanford City Limits. Comm- <br />issioner Hal L. Hancock moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of <br />Commissioners for-Lee County request that Secondary <br />Road 1187 from Secondary Road 1001 to.the Sanford.City <br />Limits be placed in the 1975-77 paving priorities in it's ' <br />proper position, that being Priority No.' l; BE IT FURTHER <br />RESOLVED that this amendment is being requested since <br />funds have become available to improve: the portion of ` <br />Secondary Road 1187 which lies within-.the Sanford City € <br />Limits,. the problem which kept this road from being placed <br />in the original priority rating. In addition;` IT IS RESOLVED <br />that the Board of,County Commissioners approve the programming <br />of Secondary Road 1187 (Frazier Drive) from Secondary <br />Road 1001 to the Sanford City Limits for drainage, base, <br />paving and erosion control, with $2,500 being allocated <br />from the Lee County Secondary Road Construction Funds. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded.the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board proceeded to open the bids received for the pest control <br />program in Lyons Bottom. The bids received were as follows: <br />Orkin Exterminating Company $ 9,854.34 <br />Terminex of North Carolina' 21, 933. 75 <br />Commissioner Dotterer moved that the bid be awarded to Orkin <br />Exterminating Company, the low bidder. The motion was duly seconded and upon. <br />a vote, was unanimously. adopted. <br />The Board next heard from the representatives of Williams & <br />Works with respect to the Sanford-Walker sewer line. The representatives <br />reported on the negotiations for right of way and for a change order to change <br />vitrified clay pipe to cast iron in -a portion of the line as requested by the City <br />of Sanford. Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker, it was unanimously resolved to award the contract to the low <br />bidder and to approve change order no. 1, as submitted by the engineers and to <br />authorize the execution of a contract for the completion.of said project, all subject <br />to the securing of the necessary right of way and easement by the Chairman before <br />such action is taken. <br />Messrs. Harry Miller, Garland Fulton, J. R. Holton and Huitt <br />Reep, appeared before the Board on behalf of Lee County Hospital, and requested <br />that funds be made available to contract for the furnishing of a staff to operate the <br />Emergency Room at the-Hospital, during the evening and nighttime hours. After <br />an extensive discussion, Commissioner Dotterer moved that the Board advise the <br />Board of Directors of the Lee County Hospital that it was the Board's intention to <br />provide the sum of $60, 000. 00, for the staffing and operation of the Emergency <br />Room at the Lee County Hospital during the evening and night time hours, Comm- <br />issioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous- <br />ly adopted. <br />
