There was a general discussion about Revenue Sharing but no <br />action was taken, <br />Mr. E. M. Underwood, Jr,, Mr. D. F. Harris, and Mr,. James <br />Clark, appeared before the Board and presented their recommendation of a <br />schedule of values for insurance purposes on'the County's property. The values <br />and property was discussed, item by item, and amended in accordance with the <br />direction of the Board. Commissioner Dotterer moved that the list, as amended, <br />be approved and insurance be secured in accordance with that list, Commissioner <br />Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. A copy <br />of the Schedule of Values is attached and by this reference made a part of these <br />minutes. <br />Dr. 'Cade Covington, Chairman and Mr.. Kenneth Brinson„ Superin- <br />tendent of the Sanford-Lee County Board of Education, appeared before the Board <br />and presented the Budget Request for-the School Administrative Unit for the coming <br />fiscal year, <br />Mrs, Reggie Durham, appeared before the Board and presented the <br />fiscal needs of the Council on Aging for the coming year. <br />Commissioner Dotterer and Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker <br />were appointed as a committee to study whether or not this agency should serve <br />as.a contract service or made a permanent county agency,and to report their find- <br />ings to the Board, <br />. Mr, Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the <br />Board and reported that the Economic Development Administration had offered a <br />grant of $241,600, 00 to the County for the development of the San-Lee Recreational <br />and Educational Park. The offer was discussed and reviewed and Commissioner <br />Dotterer moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY has determined it to be to the best interest of <br />the citizens of Lee County to develop the recreational and educational <br />park to be known as the SAN-LEE' RECREATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL <br />PARK; and ' <br />WHEREAS, the Gity,of,Sanfordrhas conveyed to <br />LEE COUNTY the real property consisting of 89.2 acres of land <br />previously used,for their'water, filtering plant.which they,will no <br />longer have the need for; and <br />WHEREAS, thisdand is to be used. expre s sly for <br />the development of the recreational and educational park to'be <br />known as the SAN-LEE RECREATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL PARK;, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, LEE COUNTY has applied to the <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION (EDA) for a <br />program grant for making improvements and developing the <br />recreational and educational park on this siteas conveyed by <br />the City of Sanford; and <br />WHEREAS, the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />ADMINISTRATION (EDA) has offered a grant of two hundred <br />forty one thousand six hundred dollars ($241, 600. 00) of Federal <br />funds provided that LEE COUNTY matches the grant with sixty <br />
