<br />The bills for the operations,in the current fiscal year (fiscal
<br />year ending June 30, 1977), were considered and approved for payment, upon
<br />motion of Commissioner Hancock,-duly seconded by Commissioner Franklin
<br />D. Wicker, which.motion was unanimously adopted.
<br />The Board expressed its appreciation to the County Bi-Centennial
<br />Commission and the Sanford and Broadway Jaycees for the program held at the
<br />County Courthouse on July 4th,' 1976, Independence Day.
<br />Mr. W.'O. Perry was appointed to the Johnston-Lee-County
<br />Community Action Agency, upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D.: Wicker,
<br />seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was unanimously
<br />adopted.
<br />The Board next conducted an election to determine its appointees to
<br />the Sanford-Lee County. Airport Commission.- :Following the election,, the Board
<br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously adopted, RESOLVED as follows:
<br />1. That the following appointments to the, Sanford-Lee County
<br />Airport.Commission are made for the terms`.indicated:
<br />William H. Cooper, ex-officio member ' _ •,Y
<br />Bob Jones, one year term ending June 30, 1977
<br />J. D..Moretz, two year term; ending June 30, 1978
<br />W..M..Womble, three year term, ending'June 30, 1979
<br />It was RESOLVED further that all appointments hereafter shallbe
<br />made on or before July 1st of the-year in which appointments expire, and shall
<br />be effective as of that date and the terms •shall be for three years; and
<br />RESOLVED further, that all appointments.shall be for the terms
<br />stated or until their, successors are appointed` and qualify for office, except that
<br />the term of the member of the Board of Commissioners who serves ex-officio
<br />shall expire on the date on which the Board of.Commissioners re-organize, or
<br />can the date that his term as a.member of the Board of Commissioners shall
<br />expire, whichever occurs first; and
<br />RESOLVED further, that the original appointees who receive an
<br />appointment for Less than three years shall be eligible for re-appointment for
<br />two consecutive terms of three years duration;. otherwise, no member shall be
<br />eligible to serve more than two consecutive terms;. provided, however,' a former
<br />member who has been off the Commission for a period offtwo, year `s shall'be' ..q
<br />eligible for appointment to any vacancy; and.;'
<br />RESOLVED further, that appointments to fill:vacanciestshall be,
<br />made by the Board of Commissioners for the remainder of the term of office.
<br />The Board next considered appointments to be made to 'the~Lee
<br />County Parks and Recreation Commission. Upon motion of Commissioner William
<br />H. - Cooper, seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was
<br />unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to appoint Mr. Joe' Edwards -to fill the
<br />.unexpired term,of Mr. Watson Kelly: Upon motion of Commissioner Hal L.
<br />Hancock, seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion-was unanimously
<br />adopted', it was.RESOLVED to re-appoint Mr. Worth Pickard for a term of three
<br />years to expire June 30, 1979.
<br />The Board next considered appointments to the County Personnel
<br />Board and upon motion made,. seconded and unanimously adopted, it was
<br />RESOLVED to appoint Mr. Mike Womble and Mr. W. M. Womble to this Board.
