The Chairman read"to the Board a letter from the Superintendent, Kenneth Brinson, thanking the Board for the consideration given the schools in the current budget. The roster of the Northview Rural Volunteer Fire Department, as certified by R. L. Lemmond, the Secretary, was presented to the Board. The roster was examined and upon motion of Commissioner Hal L. Hancock, duly seconded by Commissioner'William H. Cooper, the roster was approved and it was directed that a copy of the *roster' be certified to the North Carolina Firemen's Pension Fund, in accordance with G..' S: 118-23. A copy of the roster is attached to the minutes. A letter from the Grants Management Director of the Law and Order Section of the Department of Natural & Economic Resources, concerning the application for an investigator on the Sheriff's Staff was read to the Board. The letter stated that the grant had been approved,' however,, the Budget would have to be revised in accordance with the recommendations of an Analyst. The Board next discussed fire protection districts and requested that Mr. T. W. McDonald, Chairman of the Board of Elections be requested to attend the meeting. The Board next considered the jail inspection report,which was a favorable report, was presented to the Board and discussed. The Board next considered the allocation.of the school appropriation, in accordance with its authority under G.' S. 115-100..9..
