<br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the
<br />following resolution:
<br />WHEREAS, the BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
<br />FOR LEE COUNTY'has determined it to be to the best interest
<br />of the citizens of Lee County to construct two (2) sanitary sewer
<br />collection lines to serve separate areas of Lee County, including
<br />part of the City of Sanford; and
<br />`;WHEREAS, these two (2) sewer collection lines
<br />include: Line 1 _ Installation of a 12 inch gravity flow sewer. line
<br />approximately. 3, 200 feet in length;, to serve an industrial-residential
<br />area of Lee County located-in the southeast area of.Lee,County.
<br />Line 2 A combination of gravity flow and force sanitary sewer
<br />mains approximately 14, 300 feet in combined length, including
<br />lift station to serve a rural industrial-residential area of Lee
<br />County; and
<br />WHEREAS, these two sewer collection, systems
<br />will.benefit and serve the needs of both residential, and industrial
<br />areas; and .
<br />WHEREAS; Lee County has applied for a grant
<br />from the North. Carolina Department of Natural and'Economic
<br />Resources in the amount of Fifty Seven,Thousand, Four Hundred
<br />and Forty Four Dollars ($57,,44,4. 00) to assist in the construction
<br />of these two (2) sanitary sewer collection systems and lift'
<br />station; and
<br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of
<br />Natural and Economic Resources has offered this grant in the
<br />amount of Fifty Seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty Four
<br />Dollars ($.57,444.'00) for Lee Countyrs acceptance, '
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE.
<br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF LEE`COUNTY to accept the
<br />grant offer of Fifty Seven Thousand, Four` Hundred. and Forty Four
<br />Dollars ($57, 444. 00) and authorize the Chairman, Gordon A. Wicker,
<br />to "sign acceptance of the grant,
<br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that Mr. Elwin Buchanan,
<br />Grants Director, be authorized and directed to,amend the application for a grant
<br />from_the State of North Carolina, under its clean water bonds rogram: on, the
<br />Northview sewer line to cover the, amount the County would be eligible to.receive basec
<br />upon the-,amount by which the contract price exceeds the cost estimates heretofore
<br />used'as the basis for. an application, Commissioner Hal'L'.' Hancock. seconded the
<br />motion-and upon a vote, dt was unanimously adopted,
<br />' Mr 'Elwin Buchanan, Grants 'Director, appeared'before the Board''
<br />and reviewed-the status of the various community projects in the County.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner=William H. Cooper, duly seconded by
<br />Commissioner Franklin D,.Wicker, which-motion was unanimously adopted, it
<br />was, Resolved to authorize Commissioner Cooper to make application for assistance,
<br />on behalf of the County, in acquiring an ambulance . ehicle. i-
