A. <br />Information <br />Meeting Date: May 5, 2014 XX Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Disaster Debris Management and Removal Services <br />DEPARTMENT General Services - Solid Waste Division <br />CONTACT PERSON Joseph T. Cherry, Solid Waste Superintendent <br />RE_: Accept proposal of TAG Grinding Services, Inc. and give <br />authorization to begin contract negotiations with same to provide <br />disaster debris management and removal services following a <br />natural or manmade disaster. <br />SUMMARY: Proposals were received from 8 qualified firms to enter into a pre- <br />- event contract to provide disaster recovery services following a <br />natural or manmade disaster as directed by the County in order to <br />eliminate immediate threats to public health and safety. <br />BUDGET IMPACT There are no immediate or annual costs associated with this <br />agreement. Costs will be incurred only after services are rendered <br />following a disaster. Costs incurred are no less than 75% <br />reimbursable by FEMA. Historically, the State of North Carolina has <br />covered the remaining 25 %. <br />ATTACHMENT(S) 1) RFP Announcement; 2) RFP Document w /Addendum; <br />3) List of vendors; 4) Cost Comparisons based on various scenarios <br />Please note that due to the length and volume of responses, <br />proposals are available for review at the General Services Offices <br />(805 S. Fifth Street). <br />PUBLIC HEARING No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION NA <br />RECOMMENDATION Approve proposal with TAG Grinding Services, Inc. as presented <br />and authorize staff to begin contract negotiations. <br />
