U 14 <br />Army bases across the country will be closed and moved to Fort Bragg. Commissioner Smith stated <br />the Fort Bragg Regional Alliance had provided a STEM classroom in Lee County, assisted with travel <br />into and out of the county, advocates for Lee County, completed recent Regional Land Use Study, and <br />is assisting with mental health issues until VA services pick up discharged soldiers. They also facilitate <br />and participate in conferences /conventions involving the Army and interact with numerous other <br />agencies. Commissioner Smith asked the Board to approve a $20,500 allocation for current dues to <br />the Fort Bragg Regional Alliance and $20,500 for dues in the upcoming budget. After much discussion, <br />Commissioner Frazier moved to defer action on this matter until Greg Taylor, Director of the Fort Bragg <br />Regional Alliance could appear before the Board to discuss funding issues. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Parks, Reives, Smith, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented his second Monthly Report for April 2014, a copy of <br />which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. No action was taken. <br />Commissioner Frazier discussed a matter concerning relocating the Johnston - Lee - Harnett <br />Community Action agency offices from the second floor of the Board of Elections building to the first <br />floor so handicapped individuals can be seen in private. County Manager John Crumpton was asked to <br />check into the matter. <br />Commissioner Smith moved to go into Closed Session to (1) discuss matters relating to the <br />location or expansion of a business in the area per North Carolina General Statute §143- 318.11(a) (4), <br />and to consult with the County Attorney to protect the attorney - client privilege per North Carolina <br />General Statute §143- 318.11 and to discuss pending litigation that being Calendine vs. Lee County and <br />Others. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Parks, Reives, Smith, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the Board was in closed <br />session. Upon returning from Closed Session with all members present, the regular meeting resumed. <br />With no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner Frazier moved to adjourn the <br />meeting.
