BK - 00026 PG - 0383 <br />V. acquiring and retaining knowledge, of, and making its personnel <br />aware of, any unusual hazards, characteristics, or features of the Nuclear Plant that <br />are relevant in providing assistance to the Nuclear Plant. <br />b. In the event of an emergency, the County agrees that the assistance <br />expected to be provided by the County includes, but is not limited to: <br />i. providing (i) sufficient resources (including personnel) and equipment in <br />the event of an emergency, with any requests for the foregoing to be processed by the <br />County during an emergency through the Emergency Operations Center, and (ii) <br />assistance for the transfer of staged equipment following an emergency; and <br />ii. coordinating the response of all organizations and agencies within the <br />County (e.g., fire departments, local law enforcement agencies and emergency <br />medical service providers) following an emergency and ensuring that such <br />organizations and agencies provide the offsite assistance that they are required to <br />provide, including, without limitation: <br />1. fire suppression and search and rescue and other <br />specialized services; <br />2. traffic control; <br />3. evacuation assistance; <br />4. back up route alerting; and <br />5. ambulances and quick response vehicles to support <br />emergency lifesaving care and transportation of individuals <br />to designated medical facilities. <br />In addition to the foregoing, the County shall provide the assistance, if any, more specifically <br />described on Exhibit A attached hereto. <br />The County agrees that any resources or equipment expected to provide assistance will be <br />maintained in a state of readiness suitable to support an emergency at the Nuclear Plant. If any <br />such resources or equipment are damaged or destroyed in the course of the County providing <br />offsite assistance during an emergency at the Nuclear Plant, Duke Energy agrees to repair or <br />replace such resources or equipment <br />2. Compensation In consideration of the assistance to be provided by the County <br />pursuant to this MOU, Duke Energy agrees to make an annual payment of $75,000 to the County <br />each year that this MOU remain in effect.
