Mr. Buchanan brought up for 'consideration the report of the
<br />Community Development Council as set ouf'in its report of November 8, 1976, to
<br />the Board of Commissioners; The recommendation of the Community Development
<br />Council was approved, subject to the funds' being available from-the 1975-1976 Comm-
<br />unity De velopment:program, upon motion of. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker,
<br />seconded by Commissioner William H,' Cooper, which motion was unanimously
<br />adopted.
<br />The Board next ,'considered a resolution'concerning the amendment
<br />of the County Budget`to include-the 1976-1977 Community Development Grant
<br />funds. Commissioner Dotterer-'moved that the resolution,. a.copy of which is
<br />hereto attached, ,be..adopted. Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and
<br />upon a-roll call vote, Messrs.- Cooper,_ Dotterer, Hancock,..Franklin D,
<br />Wicker and Gordon-.A. Wicker,: all voted'for it and no one voted againstdt:

<br />The Chairman reminded the)r iembers of the Board there. would be 'a
<br />legislative conference for'the NorthCarolina Association of County-Commissioners
<br />on December 1st through.3rd, 19,76, at Greensboro, North Carolina.
<br />Mr.' Edward Fleiā¢s, of Williams Works,',presented a proposal
<br />and contract, for Williams & Works, to perform the necessary work to have an
<br />additional section.o£the Landfill site approved for use. After discussion, Comm-
<br />issionerHal L. Hancock moved that the, Chairman be authorized to sign the contract .
<br />on behalf of the County and that $2,900.00 from the Miscellaneous Expense Account
<br />in the Landfill Fund be set aside for 'the funding andrpayment of said, contract and
<br />services when performed. Commissioner Franklin b.. Wicker seconded the'.motion
<br />and-upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.

<br />Commissioner- Hal L.,Hancock.advised tj'e-Board thatMr.,Michael
<br />Tripp, "the Forest Ranger, had requested that he be provided with a pocket page
<br />in order,that he might be 'contacted when out' of his v.ehicle, and: away from the fire
<br />tower, Mr.' Hancock advised that he was informed that this would have to be
<br />provided,solely from local funds.and that`the.State would not participate, Comm-
<br />issioner Hancock moved that the sum of $275. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency
<br />and Contingency Fund to the Forestry Department Fund for the ,purpose of.purchasing
<br />a pocket page for use by.the personnel assigned to Lee =County. Commissioner
<br />Cooper. seconded the motion and upon a roll-call vote, Messrs.'Cooper, Dotterer,., .
<br />Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A, Wicker all voted'for it.
<br />Mrs.' Beatrice Fields; Finance Officer, presented a-gift to Comm-
<br />issioner Hancock upon his'retirement from the' Board. on. behalf of the Board "of
<br />Commissioners and the County employees. ' Commissioner Hancock thanked everyone.
<br />for the gift and expressed-his genuine pleasure, at having had.the opportunity to
<br />serve 'as a Commissioner.
