<br />H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Hal L. Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon'

<br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the.following business'
<br />was transacted:-
<br />. Mr,, Sion H_Kelly, Clerk of Superior Court, opened the meeting
<br />with prayer.
<br />Mr. Kenneth Brinson, .Superintendent of the. Sanford-Lee County
<br />School Administrative Unit, appeared before the -Board -and thanked Commissioner
<br />Hal L. Hancock. for his service 'aS a Commissioiier:'and-.his friendship for the cause
<br />'of public education. Commissioner Hancock responded and thanked Mr. Brinson
<br />for his remarks.
<br />Mr Siori'H, Kelly, Clerk of Superior Conrt, appeared before the
<br />Board and requested speedy consideratiwn of the proposal to improve the heating
<br />and air-conditioning, system in his offices at"the'Gourthouse. Mr. Kelly also
<br />expressed his appreciation to Commissioner Hancockfor his, services•and wished
<br />him well.
<br />The Clerk read a letter from Mr,. J. F. Hockaday, President of
<br />Central Carolina Technical Institute, addres"sed to Commissioner Hancock,
<br />expressing appreciation for his services to the people. of_-Lee County and his help
<br />to the cause of education. ,The'letter-was~then delivered,to Commissioner Hancock,
<br />Commissioner•Dotterer moved that the-Board-6f Commissioners
<br />go on record in recognizing themeritorious service that Mr.: Hal L. Hancock had
<br />rendered as a member of the Board of Comrni•ssioners for Lee County. Comm
<br />issioner' Dotte`rer stated that Mr. Hancock, in all his dealings, had been an-amiable,
<br />considerate and`thoughtful member of the Board and thatthe "working relationship
<br />among the Board for the past two years had been harmonious and that the gentleman-
<br />ly qualities exhibited by Mr. Hancock had in,great measure made it•so. Comm-.
<br />issiener William H. Cooper seconded the motion and uppn a vote; it was unanimously
<br />adopted by the other members,of,the. Board- Mr, Hancock abstained from voting,
<br />Commissioner Dotterer noted the-passing'of Mr. W., Hasty Campbell,
<br />a €erirfer tax collector_of Lee, County, and moved the adoption of the resoluti*n, a
<br />copy of'which is attached to these,minutes.'.Co'm" missioner Hal L. Hancock'seconded
<br />the motion and upon 'a. vote it was unanimously adopted.' "
