MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS' <br />ti. <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA- <br />Monday, December 20, 1976 <br />The regular'mecting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, met in the Commissioners -Room on the second floor of the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock p, m.,. on <br />Monday, December 20, 1976. Those present were Commissioners William 'H; <br />Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Clyde J. Rhyne., Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. Chairman William H. Cooper presided and th6.following business was <br />e transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on Monday, December 6, 1976, <br />were discussed and"it was decided to defer; cons ide ration; of their approval until <br />the next meeting. . <br />A road petition was presented.to the Board and the matter was <br />referred to Commissioner Rhyne for his investigation and recommendation. <br />The Chairman presented a -letter from the Cape.Fear Rural Fire <br />Department requesting that the front drive 'and entry way to the Cape 'Fear Rural <br />Fire Department Station in Broadway be hard surfaced. ' There was some discussion <br />that such.a.project had to be on governmental property before the work could be <br />done. However, the Board expressed the desire to assist the fire department <br />in any manner in which it might. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the <br />Board request, the Department of Transportation to pave the entry way to the Cape <br />Fear Rural Fire Department if the project met the Department of Transportation's <br />standards. Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Dotterer reported that the Agricultural Building <br />work and renovations had been completed except that a ramp was needed to <br />assist handicapped people in gaining entry.to.the building. The Board requested <br />Mr. Hugh Brewer to have his Maintenance Department install such a ramp. <br />Commis sioner:Gordon A. Wicker stated that such ,a project might be included in <br />the Community Development Granting Program. <br />Commissioner Dotterer reported that the present Library structure <br />on Steele Street needed work in "shoring up the floors. He reported that the weight <br />of the books was causing the fle+rs°to pull away, from;-the walls and that-the books <br />would be relocated and Mr. Brewer had been. asked to'exarnine the building and to <br />make needed repairs'. <br />Chairman Cooper announced-the assigiimerits of`supervisof <br />duties for the Commissioners, which are as follows: <br />
