8 p4 761 <br />Mr. E.. M. Underwood, Jr., presented to the Board a contract <br />between Lee County and John,C. Muse and Company for auditing services. After <br />discussion and review of the contract, Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved <br />that the Chairman of the Board be authorized and directed to execute the contract <br />presented to,the Board for and on behalf of the County and that a copy of the executed <br />contract be filed with the Local Government Commission, Commissioner Clyde J. <br />Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />.The written request of Platt Saco Lowell for refund of $49.10 for taxes <br />on a truck which was listed for taxation by both Platt Saco Lowell and by Associates <br />Lease Plan, Inc. , together with the written report of the Tax Supervisor, was pre- <br />sented to the Board. After discussion of the request and the report of the Tax Super- <br />visor,. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the Tax collector be authorized and <br />directed to refund $.43.10 to Platt Saco Lowell since both parties, had listed the same <br />vehicleand both had paid the tax. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the <br />motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Dotterer, Rhyne, F. Wicker and.G. Wicker <br />and Cooper all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The report of the Tax Supervisor as to parties who have requested an <br />extension of time to list property for-taxes was presented to the Board. Commissioner <br />Clyde J. Rhyne moved that all those who have requested an extension and all that <br />make such a request at least seven days prior to the end of the listing period be <br />granted an extension until March 31, 1977, to list'their property. Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Dotterer, <br />Rhyne, F. Wicker, G. Wicker, and. Cooper all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Chairman Cooper reported to the Board that the County expected to <br />receive assistance which'would,permit the acquisition of a new ambulance in March. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that funds were available <br />for Emergency Medical Services projects in Region J. <br />The Chairman had the Clerk read to the Board a letter from the Moore <br />County Historical Association requesting funds to support the program at the House in <br />the Horseshoe. No action was taken on the request. <br />The Chairman read a letter secured by the Maintenance Supervisor <br />setting out-the cost for installation of a vestibule or double'. door)entryway.at the t <br />Courthouse. No action was taken on this item. <br />i. <br />The Courthouse Committee reported that work-was underway to install <br />toilets and improve the trial jury room at the Courthouse. <br />The Chairman had the Clerk read to the Board a notice of hearing <br />issued by the Department of Administration and other departments of state government <br />over the amendment-of Section 22. 0102(8), Title 1, of the North Carolina Adminis- <br />trative Code. <br />The written report of Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Community Development <br />Director and Grants Administrator, concerning intrabudgetary transfers to cover <br />land acquisition at the San-Lee Recreational and Educati*nal Park was presented to <br />the Board. After discussion and.review, Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that <br />the public works project budget for the San-Lee.Recreational and Educational Park <br />be amended by, transferring the sum of $1, 000. 00 from the line item denominated <br />"Contingencies" to the line item denominated "Land, structures, and rights-of-way". <br />
