Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was'unanimously-adopted: <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker reported on the meeting of the Mental <br />Health Board and advised the Board that he concurred in the action of appointing' <br />the. Menial'Health'Director for one'year at a time. <br />At the direction of the Chairman, the Clerk read the letter of Mrs. <br />Reggie H. Durham, Executive Director of the Council on Aging relating to <br />Senior Citizens activities during the month of. May. Commissioner Gordon <br />A. Wicker moved that May be designated as Senior Citizens month in Lee <br />County: Commissioner Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a'vote, it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />.,,Chairran Cooper reported on.the groundbreaking ceremonies held in <br />connection with the construction of the concession stand and toilet facilities <br />at the O. TCtSloan Recreation Park: <br />Coinmissiorier Dotterer, moved that the County take bids for its-insurance <br />,coverage and.that the,appropriate officers of the Countyrbe authorized to <br />f -:f secure;tfie services of;a special agent or consultant with regard to the type of <br />,,.z . <br />coverage and the specification form of the invitation for bids. Commissioner <br />Franklin.D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Rhyne reported that the improvements at the.jail had been <br />completed. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker 'reported about the activities of the <br />Region J Council of Government and its projected budget. <br />The Clerk read to the Board a letter from Mr. Leon J. Penny, Executive <br />Director, Johnson-Lee Community Action, Inc. ; recognizing •the' names and <br />the appointment of the three persons to represent the public sector component of <br />the Community Action Board.of`I)ire'ctors. <br />There was a discussion about the construction of the Albert Coats <br />Local Government Commission Building in Raleigh but no formal action was -taken <br />at this time. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it was <br />adjourned sine die. / <br />WI .
